Review & Swatches: Guerlain Kiss Kiss Lipstick for Fall 2014

Guer06

Guerlain has reinvented and is relaunching their most elegant and iconic lip product. Now dressed in a black lacquered packaging, the Kiss Kiss lipsticks are back! The line has been reformulated and promises to be extra creamy, intense and full of shine.

The Kiss Kiss line is due to hit shelves early August, but I got early access to show you 4 of the 25 exciting shades…

The Guerlain Kiss Kiss lipsticks have been upgraded to this very uniquely shaped, beautiful black lacquered case designed by Hervé van der Straeten. “Because lipstick is the absolute weapon of seduction, our revamped version of the Kiss Kiss tube is like a little black dress slipped over gold” Guerlain says. I absolutely love the revamped packaging. It’s confident, sexy and makes a statement. I’m impressed!

Guerlain Kiss Kiss Lipstick ∙ 361  – Excessive Rose

Guer09 Guer16

Excessive Rose ($34.00/€36,00); a vivid, brightened medium-dark fuchsia with a glossy shine. Guerlain wasn’t kidding when they said the new Kiss Kiss lipsticks were going to be more intense, creamy and full of shine. In fact, those three things perfectly stand for what Excessive Rose is all about. It’s bright and amazing, I love it! The consistency is opaque and creamy. It truly glides on like butter. This lipstick provides about 4-5 hours of wear on me and is neither hydrating nor drying. It kept its glossy shine through its total wear-time.

Guerlain Kiss Kiss Lipstick ∙ 344 – Sexy Coral

Guer10 Guer17

Sexy Coral ($34.00/€36,00); a slightly muted, medium coral/orange with a glossy shine. Not going to lie, I expected this to be in-my-face-neon once I saw it in the tube. But once applied Sexy Coral sheers down a bit and becomes a lovely full-on coral/orange. The consistency is nice and creamy with a great dose of pigmentation. This lipstick lasts for 4-5 hours on me and is neither hydrating nor drying. The glossy shine again lasted perfectly.

Guerlain Kiss Kiss Lipstick ∙ 325 – Rouge Kiss

Guer11 Guer18

Rouge Kiss ($34.00/€36,00); a brightened, medium-dark coral red with a luminous glossy finish. If I’m not mistaken Rouge Kiss is Guerlain’s show stopper for the Fall 2014 Collection promo images. I again expected the color to be a little more intense and deep, but am loving this more understated coral red outcome nonetheless. The consistency was a little more streaky compared to the previous two, but still very creamy. This lipstick lasts for 4-5 hours on me and is neither hydrating nor drying. The glossy shine lasted without a problem.

Guerlain Kiss Kiss Lipstick ∙ 368 – Baby Rose

Guer12 Guer19

Baby Rose ($34.00/€36,00); a dusty pink-nude with subtle gold shimmer particles and a glossy shine. This was my least favorite of the bunch. I noticed it being a lot more sheer compared to the others and the gold shimmer particles made the lipstick a tad bit grainy. It also streaked quite a bit when applied to the lips. In the end I couldn’t feel the shimmer particles, but it did make application a tad bit more difficult. This lipstick lasts for 4 hours on me and and is neither hydrating nor drying.

THE VERDICT

I think Guerlain did a great job on revamping the Kiss Kiss lipsticks. I think the packaging looks absolutely fantastic. The unique shape and overall luxe feel, makes the lipstick that much more exciting. Not only do I think the packaging is exciting, but what’s inside the black lacquered tubes also definitely is. The lipsticks feel rich, creamy and comfortable. The colors are bright, but still have that nice glossy shine to them. They look and feel great and are a breeze to work with, as they glide on like butter. Great job Guerlain!
