Review: M.A.C Gareth Pugh Collection

A couple of days ago I recieved an awesome package in the mail. In it, was the new M.A.C ”Gareth Pugh” Collection.
Not all of it ofcourse, just a couple samples. Four products of the new line, totally inspired by designer Gareth Pugh.
I’ve been eyeballing the promo photos for a while now, and today I finally was able to test the products out.

First off, the packaging. This is what will make people buy this collection the most.
M.A.C completely changed their regular packaging by making all the pots square-shaped (instead of the regular round).
Also the boxes are phenomenal. Silver and Black shapes, Gareth Pugh style! – I like!

Side Note: Remember that you do pay more, thanks to this oh-so-cool packaging.

Now, one downside to this Gareth Pugh packaging is it’s weight. These eyeshadows and blushes are heavy!
And that’s all because the eyeshadows and blushes carry a mirror inside of them.
So this might be a big like to some, but a dislike to others. – I personally think it makes the packaging even chiq-er,
but sort of unnecessary. This all depends on your own opinions.

Now, let’s go on to the actual products :)

Metal-X Cream Shadow ”Obscura”  – Frosty Gunmetal Grey – €33,00
This is the real deal, you guys! Oh my God.. This is GORGEOUS in real life.
I’d describe it as a deep, dark metal grey with violet/purple and silver shimmer in it.
This is called a cream shadow, but I’m not sure of that..
They do go on like butter, and it’s pigmented as hell, but it didn’t feel thát creamy to me?
Cream or not, I love, love, love this!

Powder Blush ”Strada” – Mid-Tone Nude – €30,00
This blush confuses me. It’s not really what you call a ”blush-blush”
The color is just as M.A.C describes it: A mid-tone nude. I think this is perfect for us light girls as a really light contour shade.
But I don’t see more tanned girls wearing this? – Other than that, the texture of the blush is perfect and soft.

Pigment ”Guise” – Frosty Grey – €33,00
Another like! This is perfection. Your go-to silver/grey, full-on, SHINY Silver Pigment.
Awesome for the inner corners of your eye to fully open them up, or on the lid for some glamour.
This is just a beautiful pigment, that everyone should have in their collection.

Lipglass ”Outrage” – Sheer Berry with Blue Pearl – €25,50
Now when I opened my package, and saw this, you can pretty imagine much my face already.
I was SHOCKED! Such an original, booming, bamming, color!
It has this awesome blue, moss-green duochrome to a beautiful deep berry color.
But then I swatched it… And it really is ”sheer”.. Aww, M.A.C I wish you just made this opaque :(

Overall, the products that I got from this collection have their ups and downs.
Where the awesome duochrome lipglass let’s down, And the eye products give a highlight to your day.
This is a good collection with some flaws but with BEAUTIFUL packaging.

Favorites:
The packaging
– Metal-X Cream Shadow in ”Obscura”
– Pigment in ”Guise”
